NEW YORK, NEW YORK: YouTuber Hassan Campbell was shot and killed in broad daylight while live streaming outside an apartment building in New York City.

Hassan Campbell, who has more than 450,000 subscribers on YouTube and is known for his commentary on pop culture trends and news, was reportedly hospitalized after being shot in the shoulder, police said.

Hassan Campbell once accused DJ Afrika Bambaataa of sexual assault

The Sun reported that Campbell gained attention in 2016 by accusing DJ Afrika Bambaataa of sexually abusing him as a child.

He is among a group of Bronx men who have accused Bambaataa of abuse. The rapper and producer rose to prominence for bringing an electric style to the hip-hop scene in the 1980s.

Campbell accused Bambaataa of being a “pervert” and preferring “little boys.”

Bambaataa, 66, has consistently denied all allegations and is not facing any charges at this time.

On Sunday morning, Campbell went live to discuss the lawsuit filed by Cassie against hip-hop legend Sean Diddy Combs.



In the lawsuit, Cassie, who was in a relationship with Diddy from 2007 to 2018, alleged that she endured years of abuse from the rapper. She alleged that he allegedly supplied her with drugs and recorded her meetings with male prostitutes.

He also appeared to get into an argument with someone in the apartment, who even appeared to throw rocks or other objects at him, further fueling his anger.

He constantly yells and screams at someone, telling them to come out.

Campbell was shot in the shoulder and taken to hospital.

As the broadcast continued, he began publicly shouting and challenging everyone watching to fight him while residents walked around the square.

The video then suddenly cut to him sitting in the back seat of a car and urgently asking the driver to take him to the hospital.

“I need to get to the hospital quickly. I need to go to the hospital, I was shot, son,” he could be heard saying.



The New York Police Department confirmed to the Sun that Campbell was shot in the shoulder and was taken to the hospital.

A post on his YouTube channel mentioned that he was undergoing surgery and was hoping for a recovery. At this time, police have not identified a suspect in the shooting.
