After winning another NBA title the very next year, it’s a long way back down the hill as the Lakers have to rebuild their team, and in doing so they lose a key player in the process. Meanwhile, all relationships are revived and others are destroyed.
It’s the 1982 NBA Finals, and the Lakers have won four to two against the Sixers, and it’s time to celebrate. Now, despite all the controversy surrounding the team, I’m talking about firing Paul Weston and replacing Pat Riley, giving Magic Johnson the highest NBA contract in the history of the sport, and creating some excitement on the team while doing so.
Whatever the controversy, they won. Magic has a new mindset, he wants to be at the top and his goal is to keep winning. We see a picture on this locker with the headline, “When will the Magic face off against Larry Bird?”

Before we dive into Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty Season 2 Episode 7, let’s quickly recap the previous episode. Now, I’d like to point out that the episode didn’t bring this up, but Magic Johnson won his second Finals MVP at age 23; I would really point that out to them.
Number one, it was more credibility for him to earn that money from Dr. Buzz. But also, it will feature Larry Bird, who is really over the top. So, I wish we had spent a little more time highlighting it because Magic Johnson was the best player on the team during that run.
But we fast forward a year; It’s 1983. The Lakers will once again face off against the 76ers as they try to recapture their championship for the first time in 14 years.
And the last team to do it well was, you guessed it, the 1969 Boston Celtics. A lot more happened in the previous episode, but now let’s discuss when Winning Time Season 2 Episode 7 will be released and what will happen in it.

Time to Win: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty Season 2 Episode 7 will be released on September 17, 2023 on HBO. This episode is titled “What Is and What Should Never Be”. At the time of writing, only 7 episodes were scheduled for this second season, so presumably, episode 7 will be the final one and this second season will end with it.
The synopsis for episode 7 is as follows: “The rivalry between the Lakers and Celtics reaches new heights as the 1984 NBA Finals begin. Bass fights a case that could change his life, Claire may file for bankruptcy once again, and Ginny wonders if she belongs in the world of professional sports. Later, in their first finals matchup, Irvin and Larry battled to the bitter end.”
