In the first scene of “L’ame Perdue,” Daryl ends up on a French beach. He boards a boat and begins collecting essentials for a family that has gone missing. Daryl begins to search for a way back to the Commonwealth.
Along the way he encounters a group of passers-by who are unlike any he has seen in his homeland. One of the walkers touches it, leaving a burning mark on his arm. Nevertheless, he finally manages to rest the walkers and continue his search, which brings him to Maribelle and Guillaume.
With them, he exchanges a medical kit for food. The two soldiers enter their conversation and try to harm Maribel. To protect the latter, Daryl intervenes and kills the two soldiers with the help of Maribel.
Maribel and her grandfather attack him, fleeing with his suitcase. Nun Isabel took her to her convent. She meets Laurent at the abbey, where he takes care of her and allows her to recover from the attack.
According to a prophecy, Laurent is the next messiah who will lead mankind to a brighter future, Isabel explains to Daryl. However, Laurent needed to be taken to a different religious organization, the Union of Hope, with a center in northern France.
