Patrick Dempsey says his kids will ‘find out all the reasons’ why he shouldn’t be the ‘sexiest man alive’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Patrick Dempsey has opened up about a combination of excitement in his family and, surprisingly, some discontent among his circle of friends after he was named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2023.
At the recent Formula 1 Grand Prix in Las Vegas, the Grey’s Anatomy alum spoke to ET Online about how people reacted to his title announcement.

“I didn’t realize how close the competition was, and how many people finished second, and how many people were overlooked, and then how many people got angry, I realized,” he said.
Dempsey now joins a prestigious list of previous Sexiest Man Alive winners and fellow actors, including Michael B. Jordan, Paul Rudd and Chris Evans.

Dempsey shared that he is now enjoying the moment after winning the title. “I’m just happy to be in the game at this point in my life, so that’s good. I’m having a good time. I’m enjoying the moment,” he said.
The Ferrari star, who was crowned this year’s Sexiest Man Alive earlier this year, admitted he was overwhelmed by the honour.

“I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I’ve always been a bridesmaid!” the 57-year-old actor laughed to People.
“I completely forgot about it and didn’t even think about being in that position. So I have a good ego,” he added.
“I’m glad this is happening at this point in my life. It’s nice to be recognized, and of course my ego is a little bruised, but it gives me the opportunity to use it for something positive,” Dempsey said.

How many children does Patrick Dempsey have?
Speaking to People about how his kids reacted to the announcement, Dempsey said they’re “just going to laugh at me and pester me and find out all the reasons why I shouldn’t do this, which is good, they’re keeping me young.” .
The actor, who is also a car racing enthusiast, has 21-year-old daughter Talulah and 16-year-old twins Darby and Sullivan with his wife Jillian Dempsey.
Dempsey and his 57-year-old makeup artist wife married in 1999 on a farm in Maine.
