Hero Classroom Episode 10 Review

In Hero Classroom Episode 10, the plot initially teases the conspiracy but ultimately falls flat. The episode’s protagonist, Blade, is an unknown character who has no idea what his birthday means or when it is. Her friends find out about it and decide to surprise her on her birthday.

King Gilgamesh, ever the creative one, comes up with a scheme to treat Blade to a special tonkatsu curry lunch as a birthday surprise. The hero and his allies have to go through survival training drills to get this birthday gift. This survival challenge involves collecting resources as well as burning calories, which gives training a lighter touch.

This episode starts with a simple narrative but quickly turns into a convoluted and shallow plot. The focus of the episode is on thinking up ideas for Blade’s birthday party, which makes the main plot feel a bit underwhelming.

While the action and hunting segments provide welcome distraction, they often rely on recycled and exaggerated imaginations to keep the audience engaged. However, these exaggerated moments do little to enrich the overall plot.

Among the most notable and somewhat risque moments is the Maria/Mao blade French kiss. Such moments are not uncommon in anime, both mainstream and adult. Nevertheless, despite this brief fun the focus remains on Blade and the mysterious Demon King Girl.

The episode also features some unexpected interactions, such as Ernest’s awkward run-in with a lonely bather, which gives the episode a lot of complexity. The episode’s survival training segment is done reasonably effectively, giving viewers a glimpse of how survival battles are fought in this made-up world.

Despite adhering to stock character archetypes, the supporting characters do their best to contribute to the training exercise. However, these efforts don’t add much depth to the secondary characters. Ultimately, Hero Classroom Episode 10 unfolds as a typical “survival game” scenario, where characters are tested on their ability to use available resources.

Blade’s birthday celebration, which serves as a secondary focus of the episode, highlights how challenging it is for someone to celebrate a special occasion when they are unaware of its importance. The emotional complexity of this premise is only briefly touched upon in this episode.

This episode may be considered skippable by certain viewers as it feels like filler. The lack of significant plot advancement in this episode makes it difficult to determine if the program is nearing its season finale due to the excitement surrounding the next two-part program.
