Father of Taylor Swift fan killed at concert demands answers from organizers
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL: The devastated father of a Taylor Swift fan who tragically died at the singer’s concert in Brazil has demanded answers from organizers. Ana Clara Benevides Machado, 23, died before Swift’s Eras Tour performance at Nilton Santos Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Friday, November 17.
The victim was identified by one of the organizers of the Time for Fun event on Saturday. The report, written in Portuguese, said she felt unwell at the scene and was treated by emergency personnel before being transferred to Salagdo Filho Hospital, where she died.

What did Ana Clara’s father say?
Ana Clara’s father, Vaney Machado, 53, told Brazilian newspaper Folha de S Paulo that he wanted clarification on whether fans were prohibited from bringing water to Friday’s show. “I want to know if it’s true that they are not allowed to bring water and they don’t provide help,” he told the publication, adding: “I lost my only daughter, a happy and smart girl.”
“She was planning to graduate in psychology next April, saving up money,” Vaney continued. “I have no words to express my pain. She left home to pursue her dream and came back dead.”

According to the publication, fans at Swift’s concert in Rio said they were not given water while they stood in line for the concert. What’s even more ironic is that the “Karma” singer had postponed her performance in the city the day before due to the extreme heat.

“I’m writing this from my locker room at the stadium,” Swift shared in a handwritten message to her Instagram Stories on Saturday, November 18. “The decision has been made to postpone today’s show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio. The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow artists and crew must always come first,” she added.

Taylor Swift shared her devastation following Ana Clara’s death on social media
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it’s with a broken heart that I say we lost a fan tonight before my show,” Swift wrote in a handwritten message posted to her Instagram Stories on Friday, November 17. “I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this,” she continued, adding, “I have very little information other than the fact that she was incredibly beautiful and too young.”

“I will not be able to talk about this on stage because I am overwhelmed with grief even when I try to talk about it,” she wrote, adding: “I want to say that right now I feel this loss deeply and my heart goes out to my family and friends.”
“This is the last thing I ever thought about when we decided to do this tour in Brazil,” Swift concluded her heartfelt note.

Taylor Swift asked fans to bring water during her performance
In footage shared by fans on X earlier in the evening at Friday’s concert, the pop superstar could be seen pausing his performance and asking for water for fans.
“There are people here who need water,” Swift said, standing up from her piano and pointing to a section of the crowd where fans appeared to be waving empty water bottles. “So whoever is in charge of this, please come and make sure this happens. Can I get a signal that you know where they are?,” she added.
