According to research conducted by the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IAST), an autonomous body of the Department of Science and Technology, Joha variety of rice produced in Assam is beneficial for controlling blood sugar and diabetes. Say that joha rice is produced in winter. According to reports, those who eat joha rice are less likely to develop diabetes and heart related diseases.
What did the research reveal?
In the study, experts analyzed the nutritional value of joha rice. According to researchers, two unsaturated fatty acids found in rice namely linoleic acid (omega-6) and linolenic (omega-3) acid are beneficial for our health. Studies have also shown that joha rice has a higher balance of omega-6 than other rice varieties. This rice is used to make rice bran oil. It is considered very beneficial for diabetes management.
